Swede likes sand chairs on Phuket beach

A Swedish frequent tourist to Thailand, Annika Owenmark, was so happy with new form of beach chairs on Kamala Beach, Phuket, that she took a picture and send a message to the Swedish daily Expressen.

Like most Swedish tourists, she was well aware that the military cleared all beach chairs on Phuket’s beaches in 2014 after the coup. So the creative way of building chairs from the sand on the beach and place a mattress on them came as a pleasant surprise.

“Two years ago we were here and had to lie on our own towels,” she says.

“These beach beds are very populart. A few hours after this photo was taken, they were all full.”

Annika Owenmark is staying with her husband on Kamala Beach. The photo was taken on her morning walk along the beach.
