Swedish Association in Hua Hin, Thailand held their annual meeting on Thursday, 21 February 2019.
There were around 70 members of Swedish Association including their spouses, friends and families attending to the annual meeting taking place at Hua Hin Grand Hotel and Plaza.
At the meeting, new members were selected to the board of the association: Mr. Lars Hakansson as a chairman of the Board, Mrs. Anci Lanta, Mr. Henric Nybom, Mrs. Anna-Lena Oberg and Mr. Weikko Sepalla as members of the board.
Mr. Lars Håkansson, the current Chairman and President of the Association, gave his speech that reflected the plans for the future, the vision of the association and how the association has changed over the past 10 years.
“Swedish Association in Hua Hin is now 10 years old. When it started 10 years ago, people did not know much about Thailand,” Lars said.
Therefore, the mission of the association 10 years ago was to provide Swedish expats knowledge and understanding about Thailand such as “the way to live appropriately in Thailand and what to do and not to do in Thailand.”
Nowadays, the members have been staying in Thailand for 10 years. They know much more about Thailand. So, their demands have changed and also, “we have to have more ideas and activities in order to serve different demands of the members,” he told.
The mission of the association at the present focuses most on forming connection within the members as can be seen from their activities such as golf club, reading book club, Thai cooking course and playing card group that were held once a month.
Moreover, Lars shared to Scandasia that the association has arranged meetings once a month during the high season of Thailand from October to March and their latest meeting was “Membership meeting” taking place on Tuesday, 12 March 2019.
