Swedish Chamber in Hong Kong celebrates Swedish values through art

Graphic designer Sandra Isaksson, photographer Andrea Björsell and artist Catrine Näsmark have each interpreted eight Swedish values through their respective creative disciplines. Above is the result of the word “Innovation”.

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is launching a creative project called “Conversation Pieces”, bringing together three Swedish creatives to explore what Swedish values mean in an international business environment.

The project, part of the Chamber’s 40th anniversary celebrations, will feature 24 works inspired by eight words associated with Swedish culture and values, including innovation, sustainability and “lagom” – the Swedish concept of moderation and balance.

Graphic designer Sandra Isaksson, photographer Andrea Björsell and artist Catrine Näsmark have each been invited to interpret the eight words through their respective creative disciplines.

According to the Chamber, the initiative reflects how Swedish companies in Hong Kong are increasingly managed and staffed by people of different nationalities, while Swedish values continue to influence their corporate cultures.

“Conversation Pieces is about showing that values are not static slogans. They live through people, and every interpretation adds something new,” said Christian Bergenstråhle, General Manager of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

The works will make their first appearance at the Chamber’s Anniversary Gala Dinner on 27 November, followed by a public exhibition on 29–30 November 2026 at the Chamber’s premises in Central, Hong Kong.

Original works and limited-edition prints will be available for purchase. The Chamber also plans to sell posters online, encouraging Swedish companies worldwide to use the artworks as starting points for discussions about shared values in the workplace.

The project forms part of the Chamber’s “40 Days of Celebration”, marking four decades since its establishment in 1986. The organisation currently brings together more than 200 Swedish and Sweden-related companies and individuals in Hong Kong.

Admission to the exhibition is free.
