Swedish Envoy to Thailand joined conference on gender equality

Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand Staffan Herrström attended the conference titled “Women, Development and Higher Education” taking place on July 2 at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) in Bangkok, Thailand.

Co-hosted by Professors Without Borders (PROWIBO) in partnership with LSE Ideas, Gulf Futures Center and Srinakharinwirot University, the conference brought together stakeholders from education, NGOs, businesses and policymakers to share perspectives on gender equality, discuss the challenge of reaching gender parity and address the significant role of higher education in promoting gender equality.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Herrström gave a short introductory speech based on Sweden’s feminist foreign policy and underlined the important role of men in taking action for gender equality.

Split in three parts, topics at the conference contained: Panel 1: How to Achieve Gender Parity in Higher Education, Panel 2. Tools, Technologies and Technique: How to Enhance Educational Experiences for Women, Panel 3. Beyond Teaching: Mentoring, Networking and Recruiting Women.

In each panel, there were several keynote speakers working actively related to education, politics and woman role including Dr. Sipim Sornbanlang of SWU, Tessy de Nassau and Rachel Warnick of PROWIBO, Thai politicians Pannika Wanich from Future Forward Party and Chitpas Tant Kridakon from Democrat Party and more.

Launched in 2017, Professors Without Borders (PROWIBO) is a social enterprise specializing in university education. PROWIBO has set its goal to create a platform for academics and professionals who aspire to share passion for knowledge with students around the world.
