Swedish golf tournament moves premiere to Thailand

Thailand is a popular place for Swedish golfers during the winter and many of the professional players train in the country while they wait for the snow to melt back home. In April, Sweden’s biggest golf tournament, Nordea Tour is moving with the professionals as it premiers in Thailand. The tournament will be played April 4 to April 6 at Black Mountain Golf Club.

One of the players who spends the off season in Thailand is Wilhelm Schauman. He took the initiative to Black Mountain Invitational by Nordea. It is a tournament by invitation with the top 20 from the Nordea Tour Ranking 2012 allowed to play.

“Black Mountain Golf Club is a world class facility and hopefully this will be a returning tournament. In the future maybe wild cards for players in the European Tour will be a possibility,” says Wilhelm Schauman who will also be playing the tournament.

No economic help will be given for transport but even a last place in the tournament means prize money that should cover expenses.
