Swedish healthtech company Encare AB has signed an agreement with the National Cancer Institute of Thailand to introduce a system designed to improve surgical care and patient recovery. The agreement, announced on 13 October 2026, marks Encare’s entry into the Thai market.
The National Cancer Institute, a specialist oncology hospital in Bangkok operating under Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health, will become Encare’s first hospital partner in the country.
The collaboration will initially focus on colorectal surgery, where the hospital will introduce Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) guidelines. These internationally developed guidelines cover the entire surgical process, from preparation before an operation to recovery afterwards, with the aim of reducing complications and shortening hospital stays.
Encare will provide its ERAS Interactive Audit System, which allows medical teams to monitor how closely recommended procedures are followed, measure patient outcomes and compare results with other participating hospitals.
The hospital’s colorectal surgery team will also participate in a structured implementation programme and work towards ERAS Qualification, awarded by the international ERAS Society following an independent assessment.
“The National Cancer Institute of Thailand is an important first hospital partner for Encare as we enter the Thai market,” said Rasmus Waller, CEO of Encare.
“The collaboration gives us an opportunity to support ERAS implementation at a specialist oncology hospital within Thailand’s public healthcare system. We look forward to working with the NCI team as it introduces the guidelines in colorectal surgery.”
The agreement adds Thailand to Encare’s growing network in Asia-Pacific, where the Swedish company works with 22 hospitals across 11 countries. Existing partners include Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore, Gleneagles Hospital Johor in Malaysia and FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Headquartered in Sweden, Encare is the global commercial partner of the ERAS Society, an international organisation promoting evidence-based improvements in surgical care. The company works with more than 140 hospitals in over 30 countries.
The Thai collaboration may eventually be expanded to other surgical specialties beyond colorectal surgery.
