Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam is scheduled to meet Swedish business leaders at Ericsson, Spotify and Volvo during his state visit, according to a newly published programme from Sweden’s government.
The official programme runs from 19 to 21 October and includes talks on digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence and the future of transport.
On Monday, Tharman and King Carl XVI Gustaf are due to attend a roundtable at Ericsson Studio. Representatives from Saab and Singaporean businesses will also participate, with discussions focusing on emerging technologies and digital resilience.
Tuesday’s programme includes an event at Spotify with representatives from Lovable, Legora and investment firm EQT. The panel will explore how technology, capital and entrepreneurship can help businesses compete globally.
Transport and research in Gothenburg
On Wednesday, the president and the King will travel to Gothenburg for a transport event at World of Volvo and a visit to Chalmers University of Technology. At Chalmers, they are also scheduled to meet Singaporean professor Jia Wei Chew and Singaporean students.
Beyond the business programme, Tharman is due to meet Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and parliamentary Speaker Andreas Norlén. He will also attend a reception for Singaporeans living in Sweden, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As ScandAsia previously reported, the president is travelling with a government and business delegation.
The visit marks 60 years of diplomatic relations and follows the Swedish King’s state visit to Singapore in November 2024.
