Bangkok police have arrested a Swedish national and two Vietnamese men for allegedly operating an illegal cannabis processing facility in the city’s Don Mueang district. The raid occurred on Tuesday, 19 February 2025, at a four-story commercial building located in Soi Cherdwutthakat 9, within a prominent cosmetics market area.
The police raided the building at 2 pm on 19 February 2025 with a search warrant issued by the Criminal Court on 18 February. No one opened in response to their calls. They then entered through the back and found the Swedish man and the two Vietnamese on the fourth floor.
As of the time of reporting, neither Thai nor Swedish media have provided additional details regarding the Swedish national, who on Facebook is said to be of Asian descent, including his name, age, or specific role in the operation.
Inside the premises, officials discovered large suitcases filled with dried cannabis flowers on the first floor, additional bags of cannabis on the mezzanine, and a packaging area on the second floor equipped with vacuum sealers and digital scales. No live cannabis plants were found during the operation.
The Swedish man and the Vietnamese are accused of engaging in cannabis-related activities without the necessary permits, violating Thailand’s regulations on the production and distribution of cannabis despite its partial decriminalization.
According to the police, the building owner and the employer of the Swede and two Vietnamese will be summoned for further questioning. The case remains under active investigation.
