Nord Anglia Education becomes majority Swedish-owned after $14.5 billion acquisition

Nord Anglia Education, which operates premium international schools across China and Southeast Asia (see below), is now majority owned by a Swedish-led consortium. The acquisition, valued at $14.5 billion, was completed on Wednesday 20 March 2025.

The deal was led by EQT, a Stockholm-based investment group, through its BPEA Private Equity Fund VIII. EQT has been involved with Nord Anglia since 2008 and helped guide the education group through a series of strategic acquisitions and digital initiatives.

EQT is joined in the new ownership consortium by prominent global investors including Neuberger Berman Private Markets, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Corporación Financiera Alba, S.A., and Dubai Holding Investments.

Nord Anglia operates more than 80 schools worldwide, with a strong footprint in Asia, including in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and China. The company is also a significant advertiser in both ScandAsia magazine and ScandAsia.com.
