Swedish company Probi and BiO-LiFE, a healthcare company in vitamin and dietary supplements category, have entered into a partnership agreement to launch a probiotic product within the gastrointestinal field in Malaysia.
Besides launching the proposed product Probi’s Lactobacillus plantarum 299v (Probi Digestis) in the second half of 2013, the partnership will also explore expansion opportunities into other countries in Southeast Asia.
Based on the terms of the agreement, BiO-LiFE will offer co-branding, product launch services, sales, marketing and technical services in the local market.
Cobranded as BiO-LiFE and Probi LP299V, the product will be used to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, constipation and flatulence.
BiO-LiFE general manager John Goebel said that bringing a clinically studied and unique product PROBI LP299V in Malaysia, in collaboration with Probi, will allow locals to have an efficient option for the treatment of IBS related symptoms.
Operating as a healthcare subsidiary within DKSH, BiO-LiFE focuses on Asian market and has developed many natural health and dietary supplements in Malaysia, which is also marketed in many markets across Southeast Asia.
