Thai massage removed from Swedish wellness benefits system

Thai massage is no longer eligible for reimbursement under Sweden’s tax-deductible wellness benefit (friskvårdsbidrag), following a decision by Epassi, one of the country’s major wellness allowance providers. The move means that employees who previously used their employer-provided wellness allowance for Thai massage treatments will no longer be able to do so.

The decision, follows revealation by Swedish media P4 that many massage parlors accepted the wellness benefit system as payment via Epassi. Stopping the practice was done by Epassi based on internal guidelines. No government directives required the removal.
