In 2018, Thai citizens (5,148) moved to Sweden to work and were granted a Swedish work permit more than any other nationality while China (928) is ranked 4th.
According to the Local Sweden’s website, total 48,639 people applied for a first-time work permit and almost 80 percent (40,341) including their families and partners, were accepted on the same permit.
Architects, legal professionals, health professionals, teachers and vets are the most common occupation of those who in total made up 7,059 of the permit recipients. The less number of recipients (7,036) take part in the category of ‘technicians and associate professionals’, while ‘service, care and sales’ was the third most common job category.
