On Saturday May 11, 2013, a shipload of genuine Scandinavian Vikings will invade Bangkok.
At 13.45 the Nordic tribes – Norwegians, Swedes, Finns and Danes with their Viking spouses – will assemble like a “flashmob” by the pier at the Taksin bridge on the brink of the Chao Phraya River where their Viking boat awaits them.
At 14.00 when all are on board, the Vikings will set sail to venture up and down the river enjoying Vikings drinks, games and songs on board.
At 16.30, the Viking will land at the pier of The Asiatique, the old East Asiatic Company warehouses that are today reborn as a unique shopping center.
From here, the warriors will continue inland by local Thai ‘song taew’ trucks to the legendary Admiral’s Pub and Restaurant at the Mermaid Hotel Bangkok in Sukhumvit Soi 29, where more Viking Fest awaits them.
At 17.00 the Admiral’s will greet the tribal invasion with open arms and serve them the rare taste of old Nordic Mead – a drink for the Gods in hot and humid Bangkok. Soon all are assembled and the horns may sound for the Feast to begin.
At 18.00 the Viking dinner starts, complete with roasted piglets and other good Viking food.
By the end of the dinner, the music will start and pull all out for a Viking dance.
The whole party – Viking Decorated Boat and Restaurant, Viking Outfit, Viking Food, Live Music, Fun and Games – comes at the extremely low price of 1.900 THB for members of the Scandinavian Society Siam. PS: The more intelligent of the Vikings will drop at the rooms at the Mermaid upstairs, where special rates are offered, but accommodations may also be found with sympathetic locals nearby.
Jeg villet så veldig gjerne være med på denne tilstelning, så flott at noe sånt skjer i Bangkok:) Jeg blir for sen og vil ikke rekke det i tide da jeg er på jobb offshore.
Men angående dette fanastiske nydelige bilete av viking båter på fjorden, kan jeg være så vennlig og få det tilsendt til min mail i full størrelse av noen, eller en link til bildet kanskje? dette kunne jeg tenkt meg å få malt av en maler og hengt opp på min vegg i min leilighet i Bangkok:)
