For more than a decade the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China has been organizing the yearly Gala Ball to benefit children in poverty stricken areas.
“Our focus and priority are mainly on children, education and welfare. All the companies involved want to give something back to the Chinese society, and children in the future,” says Secretary General Jane Arrild

According to Arrild with the sponsor’s generous support the gala has so far raised more than 4, 8 million Chinese yuan since its start. Enabling better educational opportunities for the poorest children in China. The donations have also provided tents to the people suffering from disaster earthquakes, to re-build schools in dangerous conditions and construction of new schools. Most of this areas located in the southern China.
“For us is important to work with organizations that can provide long-term solutions. We have a close dialogue with our contacts to see how the money is used and how the money should be divided in which areas,” Arrild  says.
“At the end of each project we will visit and see what more help can be needed in the future and how to support this, she adds.
This year the donations support will go to an organization called Morning tears which n international non-profit, non-political, non-religious and non-governmental charity organization founded by five Chinese judges who could see a need of taking care of children whose parents were imprisoned, children who had been abused or neglected and street children.
“The project called “ Coming Home” will provide these children a home where they can live and study. Supervised by adults that can create a normal home as possible. For these children to be able to have a normal life” Arrild says.

The Gala Ball will start with a full course dinner, followed by entertainment , a silent and live auction. The Chamber is expecting around 400 guests and to collect at least 500 000 Chinese yuan for the project.
“ Many Danish companies are actually supporting other single projects on their own. Still, there are so many that have showed great interest in helping out. Whether it is by donating money, items or collaborating with their talents. Its great,” Arrild says.
