Danish Foreign Minister Visits Thailand

The Foreign Minister of Denmark, Mr Villy Søvndal briefly visits Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday 25 April. The visit precedes the minister’s participation the following days in the EU-ASEAN ministerial meeting in Brunei Darussalam.


The main point of Mr Søvndal’s visit to Thailand is a meeting with his Thai colleague and counterpart, Dr Surapong Tovichakchaikul. On the agenda are the bilateral relations of Thailand and Denmark and other issues of common interest, including regional issues with developments in Burma (Myanmar) and cooperation within ASEAN as two topics of particular interest.


Foreign Minister Søvndal will during his stay in Bangkok focus not least on developments in Burma. He will meet with NGOs and other actors engaged and interested in the country’s developments, among these representatives of some of the country’s many ethnic nationalities.
