Norway’s 17 May in Manila

The Philippines Norway Business Council (PNBC) celebrated their 17th of May National Day at a dinner with approximately 200 guests.  The event took place in the beautiful decorated Rigodon Ballroom of the Peninsula Manila Hotel in Makati City.

As participants arrived, the 200 distinguish guests started mingling with one another as a prelude to a beautiful evening of great food, great music and great celebration.

The newly arrived President of PNBC, Mr. Ivar Thomasli gave the opening speech, emphasizing the long and successful cooperation between Filipino and Norwegian companies. In his speech he also reminded the guests why Norway celebrates its Constitution Day.

The occasion was also graced by the presence of Royal Norwegian Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Knut-Are Okstad who delivered a speech focusing on the history of Norway as a country and a people. He also mentioned the 25.000 Filipino seafarers on board Norwegian ships as one of the testaments to the robust business relationship between the two countries. At the end of his speech, Mr. Okstad read a short congratulatory message from Norway’s King Harald V.

After the speeches, guests continued celebrating their important day, followed by a delicious buffet consisting of a shrimp pyramid, deserts and much more. While dining, the air was filled with Norwegian music from various artists across different genres.
