More than 100,000 Chinese visit Denmark in 2012

In 2011, Denmark received 85,000 Chinese visitors, and with the increased attention as a result of the Chinese state visit, 2012 could be yet another record year.

According to DI, if Danish tourism is to reap the full benefits of the growing Chinese tourism market, it is necessary to look at the administration of Denmark’s visa rules.

The timing is perfect in more than one way as Scandinavian Airlines opened a new direct service between Shanghai and Copenhagen on 1 March this year making it considerably easier for Chinese tourists to visit Copenhagen.

It is important that Denmark appears as an attractive destination that it is easy to reach but according to DI, even more could be done. As it is now, many Chinese may have to travel internally in China for an approximate distance as Copenhagen and Barcelona in order to apply for a visa to Denmark.
