PNBC’s Networking Luncheon

Just before the Norwegians in the Philippines head out to their Norwegian summer holidays, the Philippines Norway Business Council(PNBC) held its’ Networking Luncheon on Friday, 22 June 2012, at its usual venue, the I’m Angus Steakhouse, in Yakal Street, San Antonio Village, Makati City.

PNBC President Ivar Thomasli gave a few words of welcome and introduced the new members of the Board of Directors before the splendid dishes were served. While everyone was enjoying the dessert, Ambassador Knut Solem introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Per Eidsvik, Senior Adviser of the Nordland Fylkeskommune (County of Nordland, Norway). Mr. Eidsvik gave a presentation focused on Nordland County’s need for work-related immigration. He highlighted Nordland’s current trade relations with Europe and Asia, and stressed his County’s intention to develop a more direct relation with several countries in the Asian  Region, the Philippines among them.

During the Q&A session, Mr. Eidsvik and his team from the County of Nordland had a very good interaction with the PNBC members who attended the luncheon. Responding to some questions, the team explained that specific to the Philippines, they are for the time being looking at recruiting health care workers and seafarers for the domestic fleet of ferries.

“It was another well attended luncheon event with 35 people gracing the occasion with their presence,” writes PNBC on their website.
