Swedish Play “Miss Julie” to Headline Top Drama Theatre in Beijing

Swedish naturalistic play involving class, love lust, the battle of the sexes and the interaction among them “Miss Julie” by August Strindberg will be performed at the Top Drama Theatre in Beijing from July 12 to August 5.

Performing for the first time in 1889 with Strindberg’s wife, Siri von Essen, in the character of Miss Julie, the play has made its name both in Sweden and internationally. It’s been reproduced many times and has also been adapted into ballet, opera and film.

Strindberg’s plays are, in fact, not new to Beijingers. Many of his plays such as “The Pelican” and “The Ghost Sonata” have been performed in Beijing in the last couple of years. This year Beijingers can enjoy the play even more because the play “Miss Julie” will be directed by Chinese director Mr. Mr. Ravel Lu, which will be performed in Chinese (Mandarin).

The play will be performed at Top Drama Theatre from July 12 to August 5 at 19.30 (except Monday and Tuesday).

The address of Top Drama Theatre is Fang Jia Hutong 46, Yong He Gong Street, Dong Cheng District. For interested people, contact: 4000 610 806, 15611838162
