Finnish and Swedish Fighters Join Queen’s 80th Birthday Muaythai Championship Celebration

To celebrate her majesty the Queen’s 80th birthday this year, World Muythai Council together with Phuket Government held the press conference yesterday to announce the World Muaythai Council Championship to be held at Bangla Boxing Stadium in Patong on 12 August.

The press conference was held yesterday at Tiger Group hotel in Phuket to announce the event “Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th Birthday Mauythai Championship Celebration”. Among the organizers attending were General Chjetta Thanajaro, President of World Muaythai Council, Mr. Sakchai Thapsuwan, Secretary of World Muaythai Council, Mr. Piya Isaramalai, President of the event, Ms. Sommai Preechasilp, Phuket’s Deputy Governer and Mr. Sombut Sangkara, the event promoter. The aim is to promote Muaythai internationally and to raise fund to support Kathu’s Police force in Phuket in providing security to tourists.

Mr. Piya Isaramalai, the president of the Muaythai Championship event, said that it is a very special event as the Queen’s cup is available for the female fighting category. The stadium is well equipped and can fit up to 3,000 people.

The fights will include 6 weight categories. Among the female fighters will be Sunanta Rawai from Finland and Teresa Sinbi from Sweden. 

 “It will be the legend of Muaythai Championship since there will also be as many as five fights from female Muaythai fighters. The event is organized to celebrate her majesty the Queen’s 80th birthday as well as to promote Muaythai globally. We hope to see ‘Muaythai’ in Olympics in the future,” said General Chjetta Thanajaro, President of World Muaythai Council.
