The 19th Beijing International Book Fair of 2012 was held at the China International Exhibition Center. This year, the Embassy of Sweden, in collaboration with Swedish publishers and with support from among others the Swedish Arts Council set up a display area for Swedish literature with focus on children’s literature, but also with an integrated exhibition about the Swedish writer August Strindberg who died 100 years ago.
Swedish authors like Petter Lidbeck, Pija Lindenbaum, Ulf Nilsson, Martin Widmark and Zac O’Yeah were present, as well as representatives from the two big Swedish publishing houses Bonnier Carlsen and Rabén & Sjögren. Talks and discussions were held in the Swedish pavilion and the industry as well as the public got a chance to learn more about the authors and Swedish literature. Many Chinese media showed great interest in the Swedish participation.
