Danish Minister visits China international optics fair

On 10 September 2012, during her visit to China, Danish Minister for Trade and Investment Pia Olsen Dyhr visited China International Optics Fair (CIOF) at China International Exhibition Center (CIEC) in Beijing. With more than 770 exhibiting companies, the fair is one of China’s biggest optics fairs drawing over 50,000 visitors.

The Danish Minister for Trade and Investment, Pia Olsen Dyhr, was welcomed by the President of CIOF, Mr. Chung Kin Kiu, and the owner of the Danish company FLEYE, Annette Saust Estø. The Minister learned how Danish companies, that are part of the Danish Trade Council’s Vitus Growth programme, are doing in the Chinese market.

At CIOF, the Minister for Trade and Investment gave a speech about the opportunities that Danish optic companies have in the Chinese market and about the growing interest in China for Danish design, innovation and creative knowledge.

FLEYE, which is exporting to 32 countries, is using the Vitus Growth programme to get a comprehensive understanding of their possibilities in the Chinese market. The work by the Trade Council has indicated that FLEYE has very positive opportunities in the Chinese market. FLEYE is therefore using CIOF to present their specially designed collection for their Chinese buyers for the first time.

The Minister also visited the Danish company, LINDBERG, which has been in China for more than eight years and is now present in both first and second tier cities. The minister held a speech about the experiences, opportunities and challenges that an established Danish company sees in the Chinese market. After a brief discussion the Minister was shown a brief selection of the newest collection and some special selected LINDBERG frames by the owner of LINDBERG, Mr. Henrik Lindberg.
