Disaster Risk Reduction workshop by Vietnam and Norwegian Red Cross

Vietnam Red Cross and the Norwegian Red Cross recently co-organized a three- day workshop on disaster risk reduction in Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen province, Vietnam.

”Disaster risk reduction and climate change adaption are among the main priorities of Norwegian cooperation with Vietnam” said Dr. Ragnhild Dybdahl from the Norwegian Embassy in her opening speech at the workshop.

Funded by Norwegian MFA through Norwegian Red Cross, the ”Disaster Risk Reduction” project has been implemented in 32 communes of three provinces, Bhin Dinh, Phu Yen and Lao Cai. The goal is to increase the communities’ resilience and capacities to be better prepared to mitigate and respond to disasters trough community- based risk reduction and climate- change- adaption activities.

At the workshop and field visit, there were representatives from the Red Cross Society in Vietnam and China, Norwegian Red Cross, together with representatives from the government at the provincal and local level.
