Danish Minister shares district heating experience with China

On 2 November 2012, Mr. Nicolai Wammen, the Danish Minister for European Affairs, participated in a roundtable meeting in Harbin city to share Danish experience in district heating with China.

The purpose of the meeting was to further strengthen the network with the Harbin’s government and heating companies in order to promote Danish solutions in the area. Harbin’s policies and district heating projects were discussed.

Minister Wammen opened the day with Danish perspectives on the use of district heating.

“District heating cooperation will be continuously important for both Denmark and China in our joint effort to expand the impact in a long term way. Today’s round table is a good opportunity to discuss some of these issues in depth among energy officials as well as leading companies from both Denmark and China”, Minister Wammen said.

Among those participating were Danish Ambassador to China Mr. Friis Arne Petersen, Mayor of Aarhus Mr. Jacob Bundsgaard, Vice Mayor of Harbin Mr. Wei Wei and Deputy Director from the Harbin Municipal Foreign & Overseas Affairs Office Mr. Guan Yuping, as well as a row of Chinese companies operating in the heating area. The Danish companies participating in the meeting were COWI, Danfoss, Grundfos, Kamstrup, Logstor, DBDH, ABB and Broen.

The roundtable established a platform for the participating Chinese and Danish government officials and Chinese and Danish companies to gain information and to promote their solutions and exchange ideas.

The roundtable discussion was a part of the minister of European Affairs’ official program during his visit to China from 29 October to 3 November.
