Swedish Minister visits China

Mr. Eskil Erlandsson, the Swedish Minister for Rural Affairs, arrived in Guangzhou, Guangdong province on 7 November 2012. The purpose of his visit is to promote Swedish forestry and food industry in China.

On 8 November, Minister Erlandsson participates in a “Swedish Wood” seminar, organised by the Swedish Trade Counsil. Among those participating are representatives from the Guangzhou local government and Swedish and Chinese forestry industries.

The minister will then travel to Hong Kong to participate in the “Swedish culinary week” at Hotel Icon, where three chefs from Sweden; Henrik Norström, Peter Johansson and Daniel Frick have created a Swedish-inspired menu for the event. Minister Erlandsson will engage in different activities to promote Swedish food and culinary culture together with the chefs and a Swedish Food Delegation.

The Minister will also be present at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Lund and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and between Örebro University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
