The Swedish company Precise Biometrics has been awarded a license contract from the Thai authorities for a biometric technology solution which will be used in the initial phase of introducing Thailand’s new national ID cards.
Some 12 million ID cards, using the Swedish supplier’s Precise Match-on-card solution which combines fingerprint and smart card technology shall be issued during 2005.
The order includes implementation of Precise Biometric software in 36 000 fingerprint readers. All circa 64 million Thai citizens will be issued with the new ID cards within three years time.
The initial Thai order will add SEK 5 million in revenue to Precise Biometrics. The contract was won in cooperation with the Thai partner and system integrator Smart Card Systems International Co Ltd. Precise Biometrics is headquartered in Lund, southern Sweden.
