Electrolux’s Expansion

Owing to its ongoing investment of Bt450 million, Electrolux Thailand will open a new kitchen-product manufacturing line at its Rayong plant. The factory is set to become an export centre throughout Southeast Asia and maybe Australia.
     Thailand is the Asean’s largest sales country in home appliance market. The sales worth Bt30 billion last year and was projected five percent growth for this year.
      “We plan to launch more than 70 new models into the Thai market this year. About two-thirds of them are kitchen products, while another third will include our leading products, such as front-loading washing machines, vacuum cleaners and refrigerators,” said Ian Banes, General Manager of Electrolux Thailand
In November 2003, the company produced 200,000 units annually. About 60 percent are exported throughout Southeast Asia.
     Ian Banes said according to the new free trade agreement (FTA) the company can export Thai-style cooking products to Australia, while importing European-style products from their Australian plant.
