Viking Cup, the annual encounter of all Viking football teams from Asia, has been postponed this year to 25-28 September 2003 due to the uncertainties surrounding the SARS virus.
The defending champion, Singapore Vikings, are organizing this year’s competition which traditionally is held in the Easter weekend. This year due to the outbreak of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) the organizing committee Viking Cup decided to move the event to 25-28 September 2003.
Viking Cup 2003 will take place at Singapore’s leisure island no.1 – Sentosa Island. Here, players along with their families and friends will take up accommodation at the luxurious Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort. Matches will be played in front of Sijori Resort Sentosa, and all will join after the matches at Sunset Bay Bar.
Sentosa Island has plenty to offer – also to those who are not participating in the actual matches. For accompanying family members, a visit to Sentosa’s Underwater World is a must. There are also Museums for those interested.
“And don’t forget Sentosa has Singapore’s best beaches,” the organizers add, although these artificial beaches will probably not appeal much to visitors from countries in the region with more natural beauty.
The Viking Cup is sponsored by SAS, Nordea Private Banking and Maersk, and Carlsberg is the Official Beer of Viking Cup 2003.
