Swedish’s Brainball game showcase at Bangkok International ICT Expo 2005

Swedish interactive “Brainball” game was among those highlights IT showcases at Bangkok International ICT Expo 2005. The event was opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on 3 August. Thailand’s largest event of advanced ICT innovation and product was held between 3-7 August at Impact, Muang Thong Thani.
The game, developed by Swedish’s Smart Studio, allows two opponents to control a ball through brain waves. The player that is the most relaxed can make the ball slowly roll to the opponent’s side to win. The brain waves are detected by sensors in a black headband worn by each player. The sensors are connected to a biosensor system, which registers the electrical activity of the brain. Brainball measures both Alpha and Theta waves, which are active when players are calm and relaxed.
The Expo hosts around 300 booths from 15 countries in 47,000 square meters of floor space in Halls 1-8 of Impact. ICT Minister Suvit Khunkitti expected the event to draw 300,000 visitors and generate sales revenue of at least one billion baht.
Other showcase highlights were “Asimo Spectrum Show” from Honda and the world’s smallest robot called “Monsieur”,10.8 mm in height and weighing 4.3 grammes, from Epson Micro Robot System, for instance.
