Olof Skoog Director General for Political Affairs, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden visited Indonesia on 11-14 October 2005 to discuss the latest development in Aceh.
In Jakarta, Olof Skoog had bilateral talks with his counterpart at the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as with Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Minister of Justice Hamid Awaluddin, and other officials. On 13-14 October Olof Skoog also visited Aceh.
Sweden supports the peace process in Aceh by providing the logistical support for the Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM). In addition, Sweden also provides observers and advisers to AMM. The Swedish Government has allocated over 5 million USD for this purpose. As for the recovery and reconstruction of Aceh after the Tsunami, Swedish assistance to Indonesia has now reached 33 million USD.
