The Swedish consulting firm Sweco has been awarded a SEK 12 million pre study contract to scrutinize details in a projected hydropower project in central Vietnam. The contract is worth SEK 12 million and the study should be finished within 2006. In this project, Sweco has been commissioned to evaluate technical details in, as well as the expected environmental and social effects from, the construction of the Song Bung 4 hydropower plant. Sweco has for the past few years worked with several hydropower projects in Vietnam. The new contract is commissioned by the Asian Development Bank, ADB, which needs a project evaluation before it can grant any loans to Vietnam for the power plant construction.
