SIDA Supports Vietnam’s National Strategy on HIV/AIDS Control

Sweden’s International Development Authority (SIDA) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) supported Vietnam’s National Strategy on HIV/AIDS control.
       The valued of supporting is not disclosed. 
       An agreement was signed by Do Nguyen Phuong, member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of its Commission for Science and Education, and Jordan Ryan, UNDP Resident Representative and Co-ordinator, on 14 December in Hanoi.  
       The Communist Party of Vietnam will be helped as leading role to create a legal basis for multi-sector HIV/AIDS prevention. The program is scheduled to operate till 2010.
       Under the project, HIV/AIDS prevention work will be included in socio-economic development plans and a new method for contact with HIV/AIDS patients will be applied on pilot provinces. 
       The project is also expected to minimize discrimination against HIV/AIDS patients and other HIV/AIDS-affected people through further dissemination of information for changing behaviour.
