The agenda of the association includes enhancing understanding between people from the two countries and supporting the search for partners in commerce, investment, oil and gas, agro-forestry, environment, education and training, culture and sports.
Deputy Chairman of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Tran Dac Loi, welcomed the association as a new union member, “I hope that it would make a remarkable contribution to the development of Vietnam-Finland’s friendly and co-operative relations”.
The meeting elected a 12-member executive chaired by Vietnam Social Science Academy deputy chairman Tran Duc Cuong.
The meeting was attended by Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Kara Alanko, representatives from the Vietnam Communist Party’s Central Committee’s External Affairs Commission, the Foreign and Home Affairs Ministries.
