Kalmar Industries hits record of 247 orders of its terminal tractors from PSA

Kalmar Industries, the world’s leading supplier of cargo handling
equipment to ports, terminals and intermodal facilities has been
awarded a record order of 247 terminal tractors from PSA Singapore
Terminals. The PSA is the world’s largest container transhipment hub
which handled 22.3 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of containers in
2005.

Kalmar will begin their delivery order to PSA Singapore Terminals in July and complete the deliveries by the end of 2007.

“Kalmar is extremely pleased to be partnering with PSA on such a high
volume order.” Says Mr Leif Wallin, President of Kalmar Trailer
Handling,  “Kalmar’s local organization was critical to the
customer’s decision and a valuable resource in gaining the order.”

The Ottawa, Kansas plant in the USA is Kalmar´s site for global
terminal tractor development. This facility will complete all the
designing and engineering work for the PSA order. In addition, the
first few units will also be manufactured in Kansas though majority of
the terminal tractors will be assembled at the Kalmar Shanghai facility.

“Close cooperation between the Kalmar factories in the USA and China
will also play a vital role in our ability to supply the machines built
to the customer’s specifications and in a timely manner.” Mr Wallin
adds.

Kalmar is also leading the way in port automation with its application
of unmanned containers handling technology, onboard smart features and
remote maintenance products, developed in coroperation with sutomers
and partners.

Production plants are situated in Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Malaysia, China and the USA.

Kalmar’s total net sales were EUR 1,147 million in 2005.
