H.E. Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, Ms. Jittriya Pintong, received the 2006 Grand Travel Award presented at the annual award presentation ceremony organised by Travel News at the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel on January 10, 2006.
Winners in each of the travel-related categories are selected by a travel trade jury comprising 300 members of the Norwegian travel industry. The awards are presented in a total of 17 categories with scores allocated according to a scale of 1-6, with 1 being the lowest score and 6 is the highest.
Thailand was awarded “World’s Best Tourist Country” for the third consecutive year in 2006 with a score of 5.04 from a total score of 6, while Greece ranked second with a score of 4.64 and Italy in third place with a score of 4.53.
Ms. Jittriya Pintong thanked the Norwegian people for their vote of confidence in Thailand and the Thai people. The Thai Ambassador was accompanied by Ms. Nattera Kachornserelikitkul, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand office in Stockholm.
