Maersk Announced Thomas Gullacksen as New Country Manager for Thailand

The leading Danish container shipping company, A.P. Moller – Maersk announced the appointment of Thomas Gullacksen as Thailand Country Manager, effective 1 August 2007. As Country Manager for Thailand, Thomas will be responsible for the overall management of the Maersk Container Business in Thailand. This includes Maersk Line, Maersk Logistics, Siam Shoreside Services and the Safmarine business units.

With his experience in the shipping sector, coupled with his dynamic management style, I am confident that Thomas together with his staff in Thailand will continue to maintain the highest standards of commitment to customers, raising the bar on service delivery even further,” said Morten Engelstoft, Chief Executive for Maersk in South-East Asia.
“Thailand is an export driven market and we have several important customers here. Direct services launched such as the Transpacific 9 (or TP9) from Thailand to the United States West Coast and Intra-Asia 2 (or IA2) service from Laem Chabang Port in Thailand to the Port of Tokyo in Japan are part of Maersk Line’ continuous efforts to meet customer demands. Customer service delivery is a top priority and I will continue to drive this in my new role,” said Thomas Gullacksen, the newly appointed Country Manager for Thailand.
Thomas Gullacksen has been with Maersk for about eight years now, since joining the company in 1998. During this time he held several senior appointments, from Head of Terminal for Siamshoreside Services, an inland container terminal owned by Maersk Bangkok to Senior General Manager for Maersk’ Strategic Planning Unit in Copenhagen, Denmark from 2005 to July 2007.
Thomas Gullacksen is pleased to be returning to Thailand, after having worked in the Maersk Bangkok Branch from 2001 to 2004, where amongst other achievements he was responsible for the effective management and growth of third party customers.
Thomas Gullacksen succeeds Soren Poulsgaard Jensen, the previous Country Manager for Thailand who has taken on the role of Area Line and Operations Manager for Maersk in Greater China.
Thomas Gullacksen is 40 years old and married with two children.
