Danida Funded Training Course on Protection of Rights for Women and Children

Funded by Danida, a training course on women’s rights and how to use international and national law and practice on human rights to advocate for women’s and children’s rights was carried out in July 2007 for participants from provincial women’s union and local NGOs.
This is an activity within the Danida funded project “Anti-human trafficking in Vietnam” with an aim at strengthening the capacity for local NGOs and mass organizations in prevention of and fight against human trafficking in women and children.
The course was held in Thanh Hoa, Tay Ninh and Lang Son, three provinces where increased human trafficking have caused great concerns. In addition to knowledge about international human rights and right-based approach, participants had chance to discuss and to do team work on applying what they learn into the Vietnamese practical situation.
“This is the first time I learn about right-based approach and the knowledge gained from this course will help me much in dealing with human trafficking in particular and in community development activities in general” said Mrs. Ha, a member of a local NGO.
