Finnish Company Receives Malaysian Grant

Information technology security company F-Secure Corp has received a research grant in the total amount of 6.5 million Malaysian ringet from Multimedia Development Corp (MDeC) to the Malaysian branch of F-secure Corp.
F-Secure must produce at least five patents over the next 18 months in order to hold up its end of the deal.
The grant also requires 90% of F-Secure’s research staff to be Malaysians.
MDeC is custodian of the MSC Malaysia initiative and the grant is from its MSC Strategy Thrust Areas in Research (Star) fund.
The Finnish company is conducting research on the security of Windows Mobile – Microsoft Corp’s operating system for portable devices – and Internet environments, as well as on better methods to detect new system vulnerabilities and malware (malicious software) in the wild.
