A Thai man surrendered late Tuesday night for having allegedly murdered a Swedish tourist on a popular beach in this island provice.
Akkaradej Tunkae, 31, who fled to Burma, contacted his father, Non Tunkae, that he wanted to surrender. The father and other relatives led police to pick him up at Ranongs Kraburi district late Tuesday night.
A police source said Akkaradej admitted he stabbed and killed Hanna Charlotta Backlund, 26 after he failed to rape her.
Police will hold a press conference to announce the arrest Wednesday morning.
