Maersk Contractors Awarded Contracts In Malaysia And Brunei

Danish drilling contractor Maersk Contractors has been awarded two contracts by Brunei Shell Petroleum for drilling offshore Brunei Darussalam and drilling one well in Malaysia.
    The first contract is a direct continuation of the current contract with Total E&P Borneo for Maersk jackup Maersk Completer and begins in the fourth quarter of 2008. Maersk Completer is currently drilling in 200 feet (61 m) of water offshore Brunei.
    The second contract is for the newbuild jackup BM3, currently under construction at the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. Maersk Contractors will take delivery of the BM3 in September, with the contract beginning as soon as the rig departs the yard.
    Both contracts have a duration of one year with an option to extend the contract one year twice.
