Tourism Business Jolted by Declaration of State of Emergency

So far 12 countries, including Denmark and Sweden, have warned their citizens about to travel to Thailand because of the growing tension between the People’s Alliance of Democracy and the government. The tensions and the use of a state of emergency are hurting the tourism business as cancellations of hotel bookings and events rise.
Prakit Shinamornpong, president of the Thai Hotels Association, today tells the Bangkok Post, that the declaration of a state of emergency will definitely exacerbate poor sentiment among foreign tourists.
The impact will be felt nationwide because Bangkok is a base for travelling to other areas, and the declaration suggests Thailand is no longer safe enough, Prakit Shinamornpong says to the Bangkok Post.
