The Swedish Embassy in Vientiane has until now taken care of consular affairs for Denmark in Laos. Due to the closing of the Swedish Embassy in Vientiane per 31 July 2008 this will no longer be possible.
In case of loss or theft of passports in Laos, Danish citizens can contact a EU Embassy in Vientiane (fx France or Germany) and apply for an emergency passport, a so called ETD (Emergency Travel Document).
Applications for visa and residence permits for Denmark can be filed at the Embassy in Hanoi or another Danish Embassy.
Other consular assistance can be provided from the Danish Embassy in Hanoi. In this connection it should be remarked that any EU Embassy has the obligation to provide urgent consular assistance to a citizen from a EU country that is not represented in Laos.
