Linda Jakobsen Head of Globalization in Dansk Erhverv

Linda Jakobsen, Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangkok, has been appointed Head of Globalisation for The Danish Chamber of Commerce, known in Danish as Dansk Erhverv. The organisation is an independent, private business association, financed by its 20.000 member companies.
Linda Jakobsen will start in her new job on 1 April 2009. With her only 34 years of age the appointment is a major career jump. The organisation today employs a total of 300 people of whom 18 people are active in her department with serving individual members in specific cases as well as creating joined activities in the market place for groups of members.
“I am looking very much forward to this challenge,” a happy Linda Jakobsen says, adding that of course it would have been nice if this offer had come in another two years time as she would have liked to fulfill her current contract with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But this kind of offer doesn’t come twice.
Gert Christensen, her husband, has tendered his resignation as Executive Director of the Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce with his last working day on the 31 January 2009.
“I have a open opportunity to return to the Ministry of Social Welfare, but I am also looking into the option of taking up an export position for a Danish company instead,” Gert Christensen says.
The Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce has posted the advertisement for his replacement already and hopes to find a new Executive Director soon. Gert Christensen’s resignation comes at a time, when the current Thai secretary has resigned as well and the Danish trainee position at the Chamber will be vacant as well because of a lack of applicants for the position.
