Norwegian Sailors Replaced with Filipinos

The Canadian shipping company Teekay plans to replace about 200 of their Norwegian employees with sailors from the Philippines, apparently because of the wages, which is about a 10th of the union-stated salary of the Norwegian sailors.
According to the Norwegian sailor union it is a catastrophe because it is almost impossible to find new jobs to the laid-off workers, especially the older ones.  
“This is well planned social dumping of our members from Teekay, they have found a leak in the regulations, which make it possible to use foreign workers on Norway” it states.
