New joint Carlsberg-Hanoi brewery opens in Vietnam

Hanoi-Vung Tau Brewery Co. on Tuesday began construction of a US$42-million brewery in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The facility will supply Carlsberg and Hanoi beer. The factory, which is under construction in My Xuan A Industrial Park, has an annual capacity of 50 million liters in the first phase, and it would be doubled in the second phase.
Hanoi-Vung Tau Brewery Co. is a joint venture of Denmark-based Carlsberg, Vietnam’s state-run Hanoi Beer and Beverage Corporation, and the Vietnam Ceramics and Glass Corporation. Carlsberg and Hanoi Beer hold a 45% stake each.
The chairman of the new brewery is Mr. Nguyen Van Viet, managing director of Hanoi Beer said at Tuesday’s ground-breaking ceremony that the factory would supply high-quality Carlsberg and Hanoi beer in the southern market, seeking to establish a firmer foothold for both brands in the region.
Hanoi Beer is the biggest brewery in northern Vietnam and the Danish beer-brand Carlsberg is one of the leading brewing groups in the world.
