Vietnam wants to boost ties with Norway

On August the 5th the outgoing Norwegian Ambassador in Vietnam Kjell Magne Storløkken meet in Hanoi with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. At the meeting they discussed the two countries bilateral trade. According to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung the Vietnam-Norway bilateral trade and investment remains at a modest level and should be enhanced to match the two countries potential. “Vietnam is taking the necessary steps to open its embassy in Norway within the year as evidence of the country’s strong determination to boost trade and investment ties with the European country, Dung emphasised. In addition Storløkken informed that businesses from Norway are interested in the Vietnamese market, especially in shipping, fisheries and the oil and gas industry, which are Norway’s strengths and also areas where Vietnam has great potential.
He concluded by welcoming Vietnam’s plan to open an embassy in Norway soon, saying that it will not only bring benefits to the two countries but also serve as an effective bridge between the 20,000 strong Vietnamese communities in Norway and their compatriots at home.
