The documentary film shows the munks uprising in Burma/Myanmar in September 2007 in a completly new angle. The footage in the documentary are made by courageous Burmese munks who risked their lives by filming the uprisning with handheld videocameras.
At the same time they made a very important job in documenting the acts of the Burmese military and police during the uprisning.
Burma VJ has earlier recieved several awards among them “Berlinale 2009” and “Bodil (Danish Golden Globe) 2009”
The movie is nominated for an Oscar in the category “Best Documentary Feature Category”
