Scandinavian Classical Music in Malaysia

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra presents symphonic works by Finnish composers in showcases themed Finnish Legends on Saturday (8.30pm) and Sunday (3pm) at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in Kuala Lumpur.
Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu will steer the orchestra in performing three works by Jean Sibelius – The Swan Of Tuonela, Six Humoresques For Violin And Orchestra and Lemminkainen’s Return. The orchestra also performs Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Symphony No.7 – Angel Of Light.

The concerts feature Norway-born violinist Vilde Frang.
Frang is a bright young Norwegian violinist and a protégée of Anne Sophie Mutter. It was Frang’s performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto that first caught her label EMI Classics’ attention. Her unique voice, coupled with playing of great fervour and depth, promises a brilliant debut performance in KL.
