Sweden, Malaysia to collaborate on medical research

A medical research dialogue between Malaysian researchers and Swedish experts from the Karolinska Institute was held on February 5-6 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to pave way for further research cooperation.
     The areas of focus also included commercialization, cancer, HIV/Aids, tuberculosis, stem cell, rheumatology and diabetes.
     At the meeting, Professor Jan Carlstedt-Duke, Dean of Research at the Karolinska Institute, and Datuk Dr. Salleh Mohd. Nor FASc, Vice President of Academy of Sciences in Malaysia also signed a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions develop research collaboration between medical researchers from the two countries.
     The dialogue was co-organized by the Academy of Sciences, the Karolinska Institute, the Embassy of Sweden in Malaysia and the Swedish Trade Council, with support from the Malaysian Ministry of Health.
