EcoTeam Model to be Introduced to Vietnam

Three non-governmental organisations, two from Vietnam and one from Sweden are joining in a partnership cooperation to introduce EcoTeam in schools and to promote environmental sustainable way of living for households in Vietnam.

An agreement to facilitate the cooperation was signed in Hanoi by the Embassy of Sweden and the Global Action Plan Sweden under which Sweden will contribute a total budget of SEK 3.2 million to the Project on Community Action for Climate Change through partner-driven cooperation for the period of 2010 – 2013. Ms Elsa Håstad, First Secretary at the Embassy emphasised on the expected outcomes of this partnership cooperation.

She said:  “It will contribute to the advocacy work for environmental issues and climate change in Vietnam and this will be done through the modality of partner driven cooperation. The expected result is also to strengthen the capacity of NGOs in Vietnam working with environment. It is a combined effort to promote democracy through empowerment of civil society working in the sector of environment.”

The Project on Community Action for Climate Change will be implemented by two NGOs of Vietnam – the Action Centre for City Development (ACCD) and the Centre for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C & E) and the Global Action Plan Sweden. The overall objectives of the project are to empower communities to live in sustainable climate habits and to support civil society partnership across Sweden and Vietnam working for behaviour change.
